How to make the most out of your meditation practice.
Meditation= Conscious Contact: Being able to decipher the messages that are coming through to you.
1. Find a time of day that works best for you!
This sounds like a no-brainer, but let me explain! I used to get up in the morning at the same time every day to meditate for about 10-15 minutes. I was fidgety, thinking about all the things I needed to get done for the day. I thought I must be doing something wrong because this just wasn't working for me! Now I meditate in the evening, after the sun has gone down, with some candles lit. Now This..is my cup of tea= )
2. Create a Meditation Space for yourself.
This can be as small as a little corner of a room or you can have an entire room if you like. I found what has worked best for me is meditating at my altar (see below). I also went from sitting on a meditation cushion to sitting in a comfy rocking chair: )
Things you can include in your meditation space:
Candles, Angel or Tarot Cards, crystal grids, a picture of a geometrical pattern that you can focus on (yes, you can meditate with your eyes open if it feels right!) bowls of magical trinkets (such as herbs, crystals, little scrolls with your intentions written on them, or any other little items that hold importance to you), pictures of past loved ones you wish to connect with, vibrational sprays, incense, or any other smells that will enhance your practice.
3. Get clear on your "inner knowing" and focus on that skill.
Everyone is different on how they receive information. To get an idea of how you best receive information, close your eyes and imagine you are in a room in your house. Notice the type of flooring, the color of the walls, and just go from item to item in your room. Now notice how you are perceiving what you are "seeing". Do you have a clear image in your minds eye? Do you have an inner knowing of where things are and find you are having a conversation with yourself? "Well the bed is over there, and my favorite chair is right here", etc. Can you hear that clock ticking or hear any other sounds in the room? Are you energetically feeling the softness of the carpet below your feet. Go through all of your senses and pick the one thing that connects you the easiest to being in that room. Now go into your meditation and practice focusing on receiving information through that sense.
4. Use aids to help you to decipher what you are receiving.
You can look up the spiritual meanings of so many things such as numbers, colors, animals, shapes, herbs, flowers, feathers, etc. If you find you are drawn to a specific thing, (like you always notice numbers) ask spirit to communicate with you using that thing. And then go and google the meaning of what you are shown. You will be surprised how well this works!
5. Be specific about what you want to meditate on.
Are you wanting clarity on something that's going on in your life? Are you wanting guidance on that next step to take in your career? Whatever it is, be specific about what it is you are seeking, and then focus on the sense that you are good at to receive answers. If you are just looking to meditate to release lower energies and receive healing energy from the universe, that is okay too!! And finally, have a pen and paper handy so you can write down anything that came up in your meditation, because trust me, you think you will remember everything that happened but that's usually not the case!
